Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Sprinklermap helps you design and manage garden irrigation layouts. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can exercise your privacy rights.
2. Data we collect
• Account data: optional profile details you provide to unlock premium features.
• Usage & analytics: anonymous, aggregated usage metrics — for example which editor buttons and tools (drawing and GPS) are tapped and which area settings (vegetation, exposure, soil, pressure) are selected — that help us understand what is useful to users and improve the service. This data does not identify you and is not linked to your account.
• Location data: only when you use GPS mode and grant permission. We do not store raw location traces on our servers. In GPS mode we record, anonymously, which interface buttons you press, but never your location.
• Advertising identifiers: collected by Google Mobile Ads to deliver and measure ads. On iOS we respect Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and only receive the IDFA if you grant permission in your device settings. On Android we honour the system-level "Opt out of Ads Personalisation" setting.
3. How we use information
• Provide core features like garden design, sprinkler suggestions, and saved projects.
• Troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and improve the performance of the app.
• Show advertising when you opt in, using the Google Mobile Ads SDK and AdSense.
4. Advertising, consent & tracking
We use the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to gather consent for personalised ads on mobile. On iOS the OS may also display an App Tracking Transparency prompt before the Google Mobile Ads SDK is allowed to access the IDFA. If you decline, we only receive anonymised signals and serve non-personalised ads. The welcome page always lets you revisit your choices, and you can manage Google ad preferences at https://adssettings.google.com.
5. Data retention
Project data that you save stays in your account until you delete it. Google Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months, the longest period GA4 allows. We follow Google's policies for ad-related identifiers.
6. Third-party processors & hosting
Our infrastructure runs on Cloudflare (Pages, Workers, Durable Objects and CDN). Request logs, cached assets and API traffic may therefore be processed in data centres located in the European Union, United States and other regions covered by Cloudflare's data processing agreement. We also rely on Google services for cartography (Google Maps Platform), advertising (AdSense / Google Mobile Ads) and site statistics (Google Analytics 4), and on Microsoft Clarity for heatmaps and anonymous session recordings. These providers act as processors on our behalf and comply with their respective privacy certifications.
7. Cookies & web tracking
On the website we use our own consent banner. Until you choose, the Google advertising script is not loaded at all: we do not show you non-personalised ads, we show none. If you consent, Google AdSense may set cookies and identifiers to serve and measure ads, including personalised ones. Visit statistics use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies; with your consent Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity are added, which do set cookies and are not loaded until you accept. If you later withdraw consent, we delete from your device the analytics cookies we had written. We record your choice (acceptance or refusal) in a consent log, as required by GDPR Art. 7(1), without keeping your IP address in the clear. You can change your mind at any time from the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. The full list of cookies, with durations and purposes, is in our Cookie policy: https://sprinklermap.com/en/cookie-policy/. For how Google uses data on its partners' sites: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
8. Your rights & legal basis
We process your data based on: (a) performance of our contract to provide the Sprinklermap features; (b) your consent for personalised ads and geolocation; and (c) our legitimate interest in securing and improving the service. You can access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, and object to processing carried out under legitimate interest.
If you believe your rights have been infringed, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Data access & deletion requests
If you are not signed in, your projects remain on your device and we do not retain a copy. When you create an account, we store your saved gardens and the history of ad-unlock actions linked to your profile. To request an export or deletion of this information, email us at [email protected]. We reply within 30 days (extendable to 90 days for complex cases). To protect your data we may ask you to confirm the request from the registered email address or provide additional proof of identity.
